A beautifully matched pair of early-20th-century blue-and-white transferware plates from the renowned Staffordshire maker James Kent Ltd. Each plate is octagonal with a gently faceted rim and measures approximately 23.5 cm in diameter. The central scene depicts a romantic rural landscape with a windmill and tall trees, framed by a dense foliate border in rich cobalt blue. The reverse carries the distinctive cobalt mark “Ye Olde Foley Ware / James Kent / Fenton / England”, featuring the crowned globe emblem used by the factory between about 1913 and 1930. The fine earthenware body and underglaze cobalt decoration show the characteristic light crazing of genuine pieces of this age. Condition: Both plates remain in very good vintage condition, with minor, age-appropriate signs of use and a gentle patina that enhances their historic charm. An excellent example of Edwardian and early inter-war Staffordshire ceramics, ideal for a museum display, a serious private collection, or as striking decorative accents in a period interior! :)
