The Khufu ship was found in 1954 sealed along a pit of the Great Pyramid of Pharaoh Khufu, sealed around 2500 BC. The Khufu solar ship is one of the oldest, largest, and best persevered vessels from antiquity, labeled a "masterpiece of woodcraft" for it's time. One of the two boats found may have been used to transport Khufu to his final resting place along the Nile to the Giza necropolis or on a final pilgrimage to holy sites. A
The original findings first went to public display at the Giza pyramid complex in 1982 alongside the Great Pyramid, relocated in 2021 to the Grand Egyptian Museum. This piece is a handcrafted replica sealed in plexiglass with a beautiful wooden base.
