Gilles Peterson raves about this debut album from a Moog-funk band known for their excellent cover songs!

This highly anticipated album from Simonsound, the side project of DJ Format, who had a massive hit with their cover of "It's Just Begun" on 7", is a masterpiece of spacey grooves!!

Simonsound previously released 7" singles of Jimmy Caster Bunch's "It's Just Begun" and Kraftwerk's "Tour de France," which were huge hits. Their covers, with a Moog-filled sound and a B-Boy approach to song selection, were fantastic. It turns out that this project is the brainchild of DJ Format, a veteran of UK hip-hop and breakbeats. The B-Boy spirit is evident throughout the album, including a cover of Bob James' "Nautilus," a hip-hop staple, just like "It's Just Begun"! It's incredibly dope. The rest of the album is filled with groovy tracks featuring spacey Moog sounds. No one else is making music like this right now! It's the best.
