Exceptional 1950s vintage Carl Art signed brooch or pin hallmarked “sterling” silver, in a sweeping design of a stalk of flowers. This is a well-designed piece which has a great three dimensional effect, and there is a lot of texture in the leaves. It is jeweled with round crystal rhinestones and baguettes that are all prong set. In great condition except that some of the rhinestones shows some age-related loss of brightness.
Carl Art was founded in 1936, in Providence, Rhode Island. It was owned owned by Carl Schraysshuen, a German immigrant. They produced jewellery in Rhode Island until 1976. Carl Art jewellery is typically high quality with retro designs. Carl Art jewelry is signed CA with an arrow through the letters.
The brooch measures 2.25” x 1 1/8” and weighs 6.1 g grams of sterling silver.
