VTG 1961-86 Metlox Poppytrail Vernonware Oval Serving Platter FRUIT BASKET 13"

For your consideration is this beautiful oval platter produced by Metlox of Manhatten Beach, California. This pattern, titled "Fruit Basket", had a fairly long production period. It was produced by Metlox from 1961 until 1986 according to Replacements. The piece is stoneware and quite sturdy to uphold a lot of use. In the center is a lovely fruit basket done in earthy shades of brown, green and yellow with little white poppies dispersed around. There is a criss-cross design on the border. The inner well has a pie crust indention all around whilst the edge is scalloped. There are brown highlights dispersed all around to give the piece additional depth and dimension. The bottom is stamped and reads "VERNON WARE / BY METLOX / MADE IN CALIFORNIA / 1274". It measures 13.75 inches long x 10.5 inches wide with a height of 1.5 inches.
